La Verne / San Dimas Meals on Wheels
Delivering a nutritious hot meal by a super friendly volunteer
These are some of our Volunteer Opportunities:
Driver – The driver delivers meals to recipients’ homes by following a route book containing addresses and directions. They will check out & count how many meals and drinks they are to receive. The driver also checks if the recipients are to receive a diabetic or regular meal. The driver then loads up their car and delivers the meals. When done delivering meals, the driver brings back the ice chest and food bag.
Approximate Time Required: 10:45 AM to 1:00 PM
Navigator – The Navigator rides with the driver and gives the driver the addresses and directions to the homes that are receiving meals. The Navigator and Driver can both go to the door together to deliver the meal or the driver can wait in the car. This is a great position if you don’t like to drive and still want to be a part of La Verne / San Dimas Meals on Wheels.
Approximate Time Required: 10:45 AM to 1:00 PM

Substitute – The Substitute fills in when the regular volunteer is on vacation or sick. The substitute would take the drivers role by checking the meals are correct, loading their car up and delivering the meals. For additional information about being a substitute refer to the driver role.
Approximate Time Required: 10:45 AM to 1:00 PM

What Our Volunteer's Are Saying
" For 19 years now, volunteering at MOW has been a positive priority in my life, giving me the happiness of helping people. I also value the friendships I have developed over the years with clients and volunteers."
Ann B.
"I visit with some. If I can give them a few minutes to show them someone really cares, its a gift for me to share in their day."
Cynthia T.
"I volunteer in order to do something useful for folks having mobility or other issues. It is a privilege to "keep an eye on them", watching for changes that are either positive or worrisome, offering assistance and support as needed."
